REGENERATIVE DEVELOPMENT
Whether it’s a retrofit, regenerative adaptation or heritage project, Conserve, Adapt, Thrive runs through all the services we offer.
We provide standard architectural services across RIBA work stages 0-7, which covers everything from strategic definition through design and briefing, to technical specification and manufacture and construction. At every stage we think regeneratively, looking at the positive impact a place can have in its immediate location and globally, so it can revitalise the environment it’s a part of and the way we all live in it.

RETROFIT service
The first step to improving your home is for us to work together to develop a Whole House Retrofit Plan. Answering the questions in our Retrofit Enquiry Form will help us shape the plan, deciding what measures you should make and in what order you should make them.
In every space there’s potential to prevent heat escaping in the winter, stop overheating in summer and reduce carbon emissions. Our retrofit process starts with a consultation and leads to an action plan and in some cases construction work that will help you realise your ambition of a more efficient, more climate positive home.
There are a number of steps to a retrofit, and your project will include some, or all of these actions, depending on your need and budget:

Keep your home in good repair
Improve the insulation of your walls, floors and roof, by using natural, ‘bio-based’ materials
Renovate or replace your windows
Improve the airtightness to reduce drafts and uncontrolled air moving through the house
Control ventilation to stop condensation and mould growth and maintain a healthy internal environment
Reduce the amount of water you use
Reduce waste by retaining, repairing and reusing as much of the existing fabric as possible
Replace your fossil fuel boiler with a heat pump to run on electricity from a decarbonised grid
Offset your energy use by producing your own electricity with Solar PV and your own hot water through solar thermal

As every retrofit, heritage project and regenerative adaptation is different, we have no set or standard architect fees. We’ll work together to understand the cost of your project based on what you need.
Once we have a clear idea of the help you need, a defined project brief and construction budget, we can agree a fee for our involvement. We can also work with you to define target construction costs.
